The Great Southern Rail Trail spans two regions of Gippsland, South Gippsland and Wellington (The Middle of Everywhere). Each region offers unique delights, perfect for extended stays and more adventure.
To help you start planning your trip, we've collated some of the key things you need to put on your list when you are here enjoying the Trail.
Underpass Works southeast of Koonwarra AND Bridge Works near Simons Lane, Leongatha
UNDERPASS WORKS
Works are planned on the underpass located approximately 1.3km southeast of Koonwarra from Wednesday 4 November until Friday 12 November 2026.
The Trail is still open, but delays of up to half an hour may occur.
BRIDGE WORKS
Happening now until mid-December 2026.
The Rail Trail remains open via a temporary bridge and track, but there may be delays of up to 10 minutes.
Horse riders, please avoid the area as the temporary bridge is unable to allow horses.
Signage is in place. Thank you for your patience as we undertake these works.
