Toora

The tranquil town is surrounded by idyllic countryside, nestled in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges. The immense hillscape rises dramatically above the town, where you’ll find perched on top the impressive white wind turbines.

The two-storey pub greets you as you arrive. Detour into town to enjoy the early 1900s shop fronts, that house eateries and giftware stores.

WHILE YOU’RE IN TOORA

  • If you’ve travelled by horseback, make the most of the pony parking facilities at Sagasser Park, where you can hitch and water your horse.
  • Enjoy classic pub fare and country hospitality when you fuel up in town.
  • Take in the streetscape on the Toora Heritage Walk, dotted with interpretation boards celebrating the town’s history.
  • Head to the Toora Heritage Pear Orchard, run by passionate volunteers, and enjoy this succulent fruit.

Welshpool

Welshpool is surrounded by smooth, flat land, and a promise of proximity to the coast. In the distance, the outlines of hills of the Strzelecki Ranges loom.

The small town has a distinct country feel, with rows of cottages lining the Rail Trail, and an avenue of mature oak trees flanking the main street.

WHILE YOU’RE IN WELSHPOOL

  • There is a small clutch of shops where you’ll be able to recharge with icy drinks and hot food.
  • A generous grassy reserve is in the town centre, enjoying the shade of gum trees and palm fronds. The reserve is also serviced with toilets, shelter and a playground.
